So the doctors last night told me what had happened and it was that I have had lung failure.So the said that I will be in a few more weeks on a tracheotomy and after a few weeks they are going to try and remove it.

Zoe - I'm so sorry to hear that. But, we're here with you. I'm glad you feel well enough to keep us updated. Hope you're getting tender loving care from the medical team while you're on this extended stay. Stay positive. You will get better.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this. I spent a month in hospital after OHS, and having aftereffects to deal with is hard. Unexpected things happen as your body and other organs deal with the trauma of surgery. Wishing you some peace as you deal with this and... Read more.

With the choice I was given I thought it would be easier with the tracheotomy to stay another couple of days and keep getting monitored.The doctors are still unsure on what is causing the breathing difficulties after the operation.

Zoe, I am sorry you had to make such a difficult decision. May they figure out what is causing you complications and in the meantime, may you also receive outstanding comfort and care.

Hey Zoe-I saw something similar when I was in the ICU 2 weeks ago. There was a lady that couldn't come off the vent and they tried over and over but kept failing. Finally after they reviewed some notes and brought in more brain power they figured it out and... Read more.

Today was another attempt to take my tracheotomy out but it failed.So my options are to stay in hospital for another few days where the doctors will try again or I can go home tomorrow with the tracheotomy still in.I am not sure what to do as I want to... Read more.

That is rough, for sure, Zoe. Have they determined the source of your breathing problems yet? I'm so sorry you're dealing with this complication and I hope you'll be able to go home soon.

Hospitals are not fun places, but sometimes we have to stay longer. I feel for you. It's a hard decision.
