3 months of post op.
It seems a lot sometimes… it seems it was just yesterday and everything just went so quick since the day I was admitted to surgery .
Physically everything is ok. The BP, HR, strength, chest, exercise, cardio respiratory are in the right place. Glad that no major issues or setbacks so far. The sleep seems to be stabilizing. The time effect still funny as in a couple of situations I’ve found myself thinking about the tremendous and complex situation that is doing AVR and I see myself as a survivor. But in the end everything is being so peaceful and calm that I think I’ve put it in the right perspective: I’ve just taken all the benefits of doing it at the right time in the right place with the right surgeon. I’ve always appreciated the joy of being alive. Good times and bad times. But for sure there is a special feeling after the surgery. Even the anxiety is felt differently! Hope this is also a physical and psychological evolution! The follow up is being very simple and next month if everything is going as it should I will be released from the post surgery protocol and return to the cardiologist that is with me since the echo that showed me the aortic valve regurgitation 17 years ago! The journey will continue! And I say it with joy!
Family as usual has that major role in support. And I would like to acknowledge that specially because I’m a very independent and autonomous person!
Just for an idea on day two after surgery I’ve asked to the nurses to allow me to administer the anticoagulant injection myself! The medical staff safely allowed because they like to see the patients reacting and being proactive! What better statement could have meant I was alive and well that being able to take care of myself in those conditions!
The major acknowledgement and recognition however goes to my fantastic wife! Never felt so loved and cared by anyone!
For now I will keep on walking and enjoying life knowing that everything that matters is right that! Enjoying all the breaths and sunrises!
All the best to everyone!
