Won my last 2 paddling races in the open category. One was 22 miles from south Tahoe to north Tahoe. One had 180 paddlers. All with a bad heart valve.

Arrived last night in NYC. Had my pre-op this a.m. I also met Dr. El-Hamamsy in person. I felt I already knew him from the Zoom meeting and watching all his video presentations on heartvalvesurgery.com as well as everything I could find on the internet. I am incredibly impressed by him. I am great at routine eye care and routine eye surgeries. I'm an excellent cataract surgeon. But those are so simple compared to cardio-thoracic surgery, aneurysm repair and Ross procedures. I am so thankful there are people like Dr. El-Hamamsy who are so driven to be the best and provide the best care for patients with incredibly difficult problems and to perfect their surgical technique to make this such a successful surgery. I know I'm in great hands for tomorrow!
