Rosemary, try to relax and focus on the positives. Relaxing music was helpful to me. Even in the hospital post op I listened to music. Continue to ask questions on the heart site. We have a great family of heart sisters and brothers. If you have questions or concerns make sure you ask your doctor. Read Adams book. It has a wealth of information. I had mitral valve surgery on July 29th and am progressing very fast. I am very glad that I did the surgery and did not put off any longer. Hello Rosemary. My name is Terrie. There are a lot of people out here in this community who will be happy to share ideas and help you with the anxiety. (Including me!) I tried to read your story and find out a little about you so if you have a minute or two can you let us know a little about what is happening. I see you had an attack of some sort in May and that you will be getting a new valve in Oct. I just had a new tissue valve put in on Aug. 20th. I am 65 years old and live in Calif. Where are you from? We might just have some people close to you in our community(and by the way welcome!). First thing to know is that there are many of us either going to surgery for valves or coming out of surgery so there are answers for you here and you will get support from some of the best people on the planet. As you ask questions and get answers from others who have gone through what you are going through your anxiety levels will decrease as you go!
