About Me

I'm 45, married with a 4 year old son. I have a bicuspid aortic valve and have known about it for 20+ years. For about the past 10 years I have had semi-annual echoes to monitor it and even more frequently while pregnant. The results of my most recent echo revealed valve area 0.8 cm2, peak flow velocity 5.6 m/s, max. Flow gradient 128 mmHg, mean flow gradient 53 mmHg, LVOT velocity 1.3 m/s with moderate to severe stenosis. Time for surgery. It's scheduled for Oct. 21. I feel blessed to have Dr. Accola as my surgeon. Thank you Adam for this site that led me to Dr. Accola!
