5 months post AVR. Believe it or not, I've developed plantar fasciitis while trying to get back to my running. Sternotomy is healing well, but, the pain in my right foot is cramping my style!

Nearly 4 months since my AVR. Been cycling up to 20 miles. Able to jog in short intervals up to a few minutes between intervals of walking. Not 100% yet, but feeling like I am improving. Going to start some light strength training now. Best wishes to all zipper club... Read more.

Thanks guys. I have to say, I am very cautious and listen to my body. I don't expect to set any records, but I have set myself some goals. I believe that setting goals is important in the recovery period. After all, your body has been through some major changes.

Hi Robert, it looks like your recovery is going smoothly. Did you just have your bicuspid valve replaced or part of the aorta was well? My ascending aorta was measured at 38mm and my surgeon mentioned he may replace this if it looks larger than the measured size.

Hi Henry, I had a bicuspid valve. I didn't require any aorta replacement surgery. However, that is always a consideration that the surgeon must address if necessary.

Thx Robert, he surgeon didn't do anything with my aorta either as it measured lower than what was measured in my echo. Happy to hear you are doing well in your recovery.
