I had OHS for mitral valve repair, MAZE procedure PFO closure and left atrial appendectomy on May 3 rd. Had atrial fib pulmonary edema and pleural effusion after. Had thoracentesis May 9th. Been slowly getting stronger. Walking 2 miles a day. Sleeping good. No breathing problems finally. I had heart failure and fib for 8 months pre surgery so am so happy this is going away. I was discharged with anemia but that is better too. I still need lots of naps. My chest is sore but Tylenol works fine with my heart pillow. I hope it sounds like I am recovering ok.

Margaret Mugga Sabens Thank you for the encouragement! I have had 2 days of nausea, fatigue, light headed and weight loss. The VNA nurse said probably dehydration from walking too much so plan to reel it back a little. Will nap today, She said don't do " junk miles" If you don't feel good don't walk. Sometimes I just need someone to tell me common sense. : ))
Elaine Cutri It sounds like you're doing great! Everything you described is pretty normal, but temporary. Keep up the hydration and the walking! Best wishes.
Margaret Mugga Sabens 6 week post op check ups. Cleared to drive. Ride my bicycle and walk walk walk. Anemia not resolvef yet but doing well
