I am having my surgery today at noon today!! So excited!!
Best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery! Sounds like you've waited a long time for this. Will anxiously await your updates.
Congratulations, Kim. Best wishes for a successful surgery and easy recovery.
Best wishes! We'll be here waiting for you!
Thanks for the good wishes. Finally home from hospital today. Had some complications as heart was weak, but working through them. Was in ICU for 10 days and step down for 5. Got home 5 hours ago and have already had 2 naps that were the best sleep in the... Read more.
Fantastic news, Kim! You'll likely make some quick progress now that you're in familiar surroundings. Wishing you continued success during your recovery!

Hi. Could not walk or breathe so checked in to ER last Thursday. They have run all tests except the heart cath, which I will have in the morning. Surgeon says I needed the surgery before April, so I will be on deck asap this week. I just want to... Read more.
Kim, I wish you a smooth procedure and speedy recovery! To be honest, walking afterward will seem very hard at first but try and push yourself to stay with it as soon as they have you up and about! I had some fear around it because I had breathing struggles... Read more.
Kim keep us updated if you can and I'm praying for you as well. I had the same thing happen to me-confirmed all my diagnosis in the ER because of a bout with shortness of breath.
Thank you Charlotte. Just the incentive I need. I expect to walk the second day after surgery, or was it only hours after surgery? I suppose those struggles should be similar to my recent months. Recovery struggles are welcome!
It will most likely be a couple of days before they want you to walk. I started the day after I was moved to the step down unit from ICU. Good luck and God speed!!

Diagnosed in November 2016 with severe aortic stenosis. Appointment with surgeon, Dr Bo Yang at U of M in 4 weeks since now at critical level. No energy and tire as I walk.
Hi Kim. I'm in the same boat, severe aortic stenosis and see my surgeon mid-May. Hopefully they'll give me a surgery at that time. Not looking forward to it but also want it over with.
NM - you might want to call your surgeon's office in advance of your appointment to see if they'll book a tentative date on the surgical schedule. My surgeon's office did that for me, so I only had to wait two weeks after my consultation to get it done. The... Read more.
Hello Kim, I was also diagnosed in 2016 with mild to moderate stenosis but progressed to severe in 2 years. Having surgery next Wed. The waiting is the hardest part. I wish you well with your appt. and speedy resolution!
Susan I may do that. My heart is pretty bad right now, may even go into ER and never thought of calling ahead as an option. I feel so in the dark and like I am a year late to cover everything. My heart is already .4cm, so not sure... Read more.
Kim, don't worry. I'm sure they'll work to prioritize your pre-operative testing and scheduling, if necessary. These specialists and their teams operate like finely oiled machines and can orchestrate surgery at a moment's notice. You may want to call the doctor's office to see if they have any cancellations or... Read more.
