I have looked through post but not found anyone with as many problems as I have - they may be out there though. I have severe aortic and mitral valve stenosis and reguritation of both. I went from mild to severe in 5 years which surprised the doctors. Plus, since they are in there want to do a aortic bypass that is 60% block with calicified plaque. I have an appointment with the cardiology surgeon the 14th to find out more. When I was in the hospital for testing Aug 17th, the thoraic team was 'gun ho' when I at first agreed on open heart surgery ASAP, then I put the brakes on so I could take a breath. I felt they were not happy. I live alone, I have no one to help me, my RV was not set to be 'alone' for a few weeks until I was ready to come home. I spent the night reading, researching, etc. to know how best I can prepare. This waiting now is hard. Until I know what they want to do I can't do anymore preparing at home. I found a webnair where the cardio surgeon speaks of when the aortic valve is severe repair/replacement should not be delayed, yet there seems to be no hurry. And I have no choices I know of other than doctors in the Phoenix area which is 2+hours away. I blame the Lp(a) gene, which I found out about last summer, that likes to attack the valves, especially the aortic and bring insulin resistant. I am trying to get family members, especially nieces and nephews, to be checked for the gene but they don't seem to care - maybe because they think there is no problem and younger.
