Kathleen, I'm so sorry you're having to have another surgery. My heart goes out to you. You will get through this, but I hate that you're suffering emotionally. Hugs to you!

Yes Kathleen! Anxiety to the max. 1st OHS 13 years ago. Now scheduled for 2 valve replacements on Sept 7. I had a consultation yesterday with my local(Tulsa) cardiologist. I do feel a little calmer now. He said he'd see me in 6 months! I am trying to put this... Read more.

EMDR was used on people with complicated grief. It did not work for me. I did not expect it to. It did work for a guy whose partner commited suicide , or at least he said it did.

Writing my fears on this site really helps. Knowing that others have the same feelings makes me feel so much better. I pray for peace and acceptance on a daily basis.

I used an 'EMDR' audio track for pre-surgery anxiety and it worked incredibly well but it took a few weeks to really kick in.

So glad for this site, where we can help each other with our anxiety and fears

Not EMDR. CBT and talk therapy though, yes. Anxiety, oh yes. Deep breathing , meditation, quiet, and more all came in very, very helpful.

Kathleen, the waiting room is where you are once you know you have an issue with your valve but it's not bad enough to get surgery. It's waiting room A. Then you hear the words - it's time. Gulp, your anxiety ratchets up another notch. You are now in waiting... Read more.
