Clot found on my mechanical aortic valve leaflet, which was put in 16 years ago. Will need.another replacement surgery. Understand it's a little tougher second time around.

Did you have any symptoms, or was this found on echo?

Had an echo for my pre-op hip replacement surgery. Cardiologist didn't like the results, sent me for a TEE procedure. So no hip replacement at this time. Dang. Had minor symptoms off and on.

Sorry you're dealing with this again. The second time should be a little easier since you know what to expect. Since they'll already be in there for the valve, maybe ask whether there's anything else worth addressing at the same time, like the left atrial appendage or Maze if Afib/clot... Read more.
