What is the average life expectancy on medications with moderate heart valve failure. Previously had open heart for aortic aneurysm and aortic valve repair. The repair failed.

Had aortic valve repair and aortic aneurysm 2 years ago through open heart. In moderate failure now and need valve replacement surgery when it becomes severe according to doctor. Do you really need to wait until it progresses? What is life expectancy on 8 heart meds without surgery? Craig

Hey Craig: I think that depends on several factors, one of them, the age. Anyway, I was told by my surgeon that it is better to perform the surgery asap when there are no symptoms or when they are still mild. That's because in this way the heart hasn't yet... Read more.
