I had a Mitral Valve Repair about 11 years ago. I believe the repair is successful and only have trace leaking. I then had a cardiac ablation for Atrial Fibrillation about 7 years ago. The ablation seemed to also have worked on the A-fib. I never really had any exercise tolerance, however. I struggle to walk up hills or stairs, for example.
I then had a CT scan and learned that I had an Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm of about 4.5 CM. I also have something called an "Incidental superficial myocardial bridge involving mid LAD". The cardiologist thought that the myocardial bridge might be causing the exercise intolerance and I might need an "unroofing".
Has anyone have any experience with myocardial bridges? Or the unroofing surgery? Could I get it done at the same time as fixing the aortic aneurysm?
In this video I discuss possible ways a patient with atrial fibrillation may pass out or have syncope. I'll discuss how it is diagnosed and treatment options...

Hi-
My "D Dimer" score was 0.50 ug(FEU)/ml and .5 or more is considered high.
How serious is this? Has anyone else had similar results? I have an enlarged Aorta. Could this be the cause?
I am a 60 yr old male.

Marie Myers I think you need to get that info from your doc. D dimer values can vary from lab to lab. Do you have signs of a clot anywhere? There are other conditions that can increase d dimer, so the interpretation must be correlated with clinical history. Hope you get some answers.

Hi-
I had a Mitral Valve Repair 11 years ago and am 60 years old male in mostly good health.
I just had a CT scan and discovered that my Aorta had dilated to 4.4 CM in a year-- "Mildly dilated aortic root sinus of Valsalva 4.4 cm."
This enlargement happened in the last year and I know that the Aorta was normal sized in mid 2020.
How common is this? Is this sudden?
I am also wondering if I have a connective tissue disease (Marfan's or something else. I do not have any of the telltale signs of Marfans but have had:
-Enlargement of the Aorta (4.4 CM); This is new.
- Mitral Valve repair
- Cataract
- Double jointed elbows
- Indented Sternum
- Weird knees
- Other hernias
- Mother has pigeon chest
My BP is rarely over 120/80 and my resting pulse has always hovered around 60 bpm.
What might be the cause of the Aorta enlargement? I am seeing more specialists next week. What should I ask them?
Thanks in advance!

Marie Myers Interesting question. You do have some of the common findings for connective tissues disease like Marfans . Has your doctor done any genetic testing on you or commented on that question? Any other members of your family been diagnosed with Marfans?
