Marie Myers Sounds like a bit of arthritis. Is it all your joints that hurt or only one or two? I know cold and inactivity can bring on joint stiffness in many people. If all your joints are hurting, I would get that checked out by your doctor.

Sara Latina I was on blood thinners during pregnancy due to a massive blood clot in my leg. I had to do injections of lovenox until after I stopped nursing. So you can do blood thinners just not warfarin. Best of luck!

Marie Myers Yes, I agree with a trip to the cardiologist. Sometimes the heart gets into an abnormal rhythm, and that can cause dizziness. There are many medications that can control these arrhythmias, so it is best to get it checked out.

Rita Savelis There are often other meds that have to be taken (for awhile) after OHS, like betablockers, diuretics, etc. Often one can stop those after a few weeks/months. You should ask your doctor about sumapen and how long you will need it and if it is absolutely necessary - I believe it's a drug for infections.
Valve replacement is a rough operation and it's rare to not have to take some meds afterwards. But hopefully you will be off them soon. Take care.

Rita Savelis Neobloc is called metoprolol in Europe/USA and many patients have to take it or another betablocker after OHS to slow their hearts down and give their hearts a rest for a few months after surgery. Some patients stay on it for a short time, others for a longer time. Sumapen is an antibiotic (penicillin) which can be taken in small doses for a long time if your doctor thinks you risk infection. Most OHS patients take it before a dental appointment or some other possible infection risk situation.
You'll have to ask your doctor why he wants you on these medications. And then keep asking him in future visits whether you still must stay on them.... Sometimes doctors don't think about taking a patient off of medication, unless the patient keeps asking.
If you have mechanical valves, the coumadin is something you'll have to keep taking.
I am 2 years after my double valve replacement and I only take coumadin. But I had to let the doctor know my wishes and I had to wait a few months to stop the other drugs.
Take care Aleish.
