About Me

I was diagnosed with aortic stenosis 10 years ago, at the age of 32.. I was also 7 weeks pregnant at the time of the diagnosis, which is how I ended up at UW Medical Center, where I was closely monitored. I gave birth to a healthy baby girl at 38 weeks. Pregnancy for the most part was pretty easy minus all the doctors appointments , because I was considered high risk do to my aortic stenosis. After giving birth was really when my heart journey began. I met with my cardiologist- Dr. Karen Stout at UW Medical Center yearly, where I would have an echo and stress test done, My results were in the moderate to severe range, since I was asymptomatic, we just continued to monitor me. About 3 years ago my aortic stenosis was more severe, still showing no symptoms, but that led me to seeing my cardiologist ever 6 months. My last visit in August 2023, indicated that I would be on the road to surgery . I met with the Heart surgeon at the end of October 2023, and now I'm scheduled for the Ross Procedure December of this year. As you can imagine, a lot of mixed emotions. I will continue to update my journey.
