Send Sue a NoteAbout Me
Back in 2013, my PCP said that my heart was in afib and recommended I visit a cardiologist.
My first catherization found NO blockages, but confirmed afib. Began medications.
2013 through 2016 had 4 ablation procedures - last one was a cryoablation and that normalized my heart beat!
Cardio surgeon said that some future time, I would need mitral valve work (due to childhood rheumatic fever - no antibiotics provided at that time = childhood).
This year (2025) my echo results concerned my cardiologist so followed up with L&R catherization, cardiologist insisted I see a cardio thoracic surgeon. I was shocked/stunned to find that 3 of my 4 valves need work!
I doubled down on my research/learning with goal of finding best options for me. This is when I found HVS, joined and ordered/devoured Adam Pick's excellent book. I also started my HVS journal, at this point.
Currently, my 3 valve surgery is scheduled for June 25, 2025.
I am told it will be repair for both mitral and tricuspid and aortic not unknown yet.
After much investigation, I chose Dr. Gillinov at Cleveland clinic (I live in Arizona, so travel after surgery required) wants to have fresh tests just before surgery date(replace of aortic??).
