About Me

I was diagnosed with severe mitral regurgitation in July. I was somewhat asymptomatic so it came as a shock when my cardiologist told me I needed open heart surgery. In some ways I feel lucky that my physician was able to detect a murmur because it is pretty mild....one Cardiologist I consulted for a second opinion said it was a very quiet murmur. On the other hand I'm pretty nervous about having such serious surgery done.
