Dr. Harrell O. Lightfoot graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill in 2008. He works in Dallas, TX and specializes in Thoracic Surgery. W. Carter Anna you will make it just fine. My advice to anyone on the fence about surgery whether it is the kind of valve or whatever. Find a good Cardiothoracic Surgeon and listen to him or her. They do know what is best for you by your medical records, age, and physical fitness level at the time of surgery. People ("Keyboard Doctors") here or other forums aren't privy to all that information that try to steer you one way or the other. Also would it be alright if I get reincarnated to come back as your dog. He has it made. :-)

This is my recovery team, Missy Carter. She is a 12 yo Rat Terrier. When I got her 12 years ago she would fit in my hand, she is about 7 lbs. now. We log in about 20-25 miles a week walking. We have gone as far as 9 miles at one time.

Jim Kelly-Evans I have the tissue valve equivalent. The pre-assembled conduit/valve combo is not available for tissue valves so the surgeon has to make it up during the procedure. I also have a 29mm valve which the surgeon installed into a dacron graft. I asked about problems with these appliances down the road but they told me that any problems would be apparent at the time of or right after surgery, usually not down the road. So yes, I suppose they are "bullet-proof" as you suggest.

W. Carter Cool!! Just checking out here. You don't hear alot about these name brand valves on any forums. :-(
