Refer to my previous post. Is the redness at the top of scar normal??

That looks great to me. The top of my scar got really red and swollen all of a sudden after 1 week, and remained kind of bumpy up there for a long time. It eventually flattened out after months. I wouldn't worry about that.

Mine is red at the top as well, more red than yours. My surgeon's nurse told me that when the sternum is wired back together that the top portion tends to protrude for a little while, but it will go away with time.

Exactly how mine was. The redness and slightly raised area eventually goes away.

The top is the last part to blend in. I believe that's because there's more pulling that happens on this part of the scar.

Thanks for the reassurance everyone! The top part is still pretty sore too. Did any of you experience that too?

Yes. My surgery was 5/3 & I still have some sensitivity at the top of the scar. It should get better, at least it did in 2010 with my first OHS.

The redness went away over the years for me. Sometimes I wear make up to make it less noticeable because I have some broken veins around the top of the scar. Still looks good, Susan! you are healing well!

I'm just 2 days away from 3 weeks post op and just started back to working a little (I work from home). See that little line on my chest? That's not cleavage. That's my scar. My daughter says it gives me "Street Cred".
