About Me

I was born with, as is 1-2% of the population, with a bicuspid Aortic Valve. Originally thought to be MVP (Mitral Valve Prolapse), I would have to pre-medicate before any Dental procedures. Then a procedure in 2013 revealed that I had an enlarged Ascending Aorta (4.3cm). Been under the watchful eye of a friend/Cardiologist since then . I have been still very active : Cycling , Swimming Running. Last summer , while training for a hiking trip in Norway, I experienced shortness of breath and dizziness every time I ran more than a 1/2 mile . Not Funny. thought I was just way out of shape. 2 Echo's later my Aortic Valve has gotten more stenotic (0.7cm2) and its time to act. One of my only concerns is I have never stayed in a hospital over night in all of my 64 years. I will be looking to be out as soon as I can and be back in the saddle riding my bike 60 miles to Montauk.
