Ruth Valenzuela Welcome! You'll find many with the same diagnosis you've received and you'll read many a success story. Your story begins with the miracle of your diagnosis. Imagine if you had not gone in for your bummed knee. I too was diagnosed with a bicuspid valve, aortic stenosis and regurgitation in addition to an enlarged aorta measuring 4.7. My surgery was very successful with only a minor setback of afib which was arrested with medicine. It's been 7 months since my surgery and I sometimes forget that I had it. Recovery was the hardest because of my impatience and the surgery was not as bad as I thought it would be. Because of my age of 64, I chose the porcine valve and I'm praying the TAVR procedure will be in place when I need a new valve. You look very young so I'm guessing you'll choose mechanical. I'll be praying that God's miraculous ways continue to bless you!

Best wishes to you, Sean! I had minimally invasive AVR on December 1st. The surgery and recovery are no fun, but could be much worse (especially given the alternative). Best wishes to you for a smooth surgery and restful recovery!

Cathleen Weed Sean,
Best wishes tomorrow! I have a dacron graft of the ascending aorta and a bovine tissue valve. That aortic aneurysm surgery was 10 years ago and I've had zero complications. I had the bovine valve replaced again in August with the TAVR procedure (amazing) and there were no complications regarding the aorta. Once the surgery is behind you you'll feel incredible! Remember to walk, walk, walk after the surgery. Get up ASAP and be an active participant in your recovery even though it hurts. šā¤
