Can’t wait to be back on my bike after surgery and recovery! Anybody have ideas on how long that will be after valve replacement surgery?

I know after a full sternotomy, I wasn’t able to drive for 2 months while the sternum healed. I would think by 3 months you might feel like a little ride, depending how everything else is going. I also did cardiac rehab starting 3 weeks after surgery, where I pedaled... Read more.

Hopefully that want happen, but if you fall there will be a lot of stress on your sternum. Hence, it really should be completely healed. Most surgeons will tell you that's after about 3 months. My surgeon also told me 3 months for all sports except for golf (which I... Read more.

I was a golfer and had to wait 6 months and it still was sore the first round. However I drove with in a week of surgery. Was walking 10 miles with in the first week. I did have a mini though Good luck on your journey.
