My sternum incision glued, drainage tubes incision stitched, pacemaker (left shoulder) stitched two weeks post surgery. The swelling at the top of my incision is finally starting to go down.

I recognize those bruises :-) Two weeks out, not bad. It may take almost a year for the sternum swelling to be completely gone. One day you'll wake up and realize it's not swollen, I speak from experience ;-)

My swelling took three to four weeks to go down. Luckily it did. Sounds like you are making great progress!!
Looks familiar except I don't think I had stitches at all where the tubes were. My swelling was down in about 3-4 weeks. It will eventually go down. Looks like it's healing nicely!
The glue and stitches are all gone now, 4 weeks post surgery. The big incision has already healed, but there is still some swelling at the top of the sternum. The stomach scars are indented and pull when I lean over, which I don't like a bit. The pacemaker incision... Read more.
The nylon stitch will come out, but it may take a while. Mine took about 10-12 weeks. Everything has healed up nicely 6 months out.

I lost 20 lbs. pre-surgery and 10 more lbs. post-surgery. You can sure see it in my face.
Don't worry as soon as your hemoglobin is back up to normal numbers and you get your appetite back you will gain it back. I did and 30 lbs. on top of that. :-)
Usually you lose 20 to 25 pounds after surgery. Eat healthy and exercise so you can gain it it muscle and not fat:-). You didn't even need to be in a diet:-)
Thanks, but yes, I did need to be on a diet. My husband and I started a good weight loss program in August. We have continued eating healthy after my surgery. It's great to have a partner to do it with (especially since he is doing the cooking and preparing... Read more.
Sounds great Cheryl! Yes, eating a well balanced diet lots of greens, fruits, protein and exercise will do the trick. Good luck with everything. Keep on healing!
You look good! I lost weight before surgery... three years ago I have shoulder joint replacement and before that I vowed to get healthier for surgery so I did WW and lost 35 lbs. Kept it off since then. I only lost 5 lbs after surgery luckily. It takes time... Read more.

You look great! Wish I could say I lost that much!! Too many goodies in my house! Hope you are feeling well!!
I lost 20 pounds. I couldn't eat for up to 6 weeks after surgery. But then when I started to get an appetite back, Oh boy did the weight come back too.
My appetite still isn't what it used to be. I am glad that my husband and I trained for better eating habits prior to this surgery. That has really helped. Can't eat the greens yet since I'll be on Coumadin for a while, but we do eat a lot of... Read more.
