I had a great experience at CC, first with sending the 2" medical record package, first consult, the surgery May 2015 and post-op check in Dec 2015. All good!

Dr. Gillinov repaired my mitral valve on July 14, 2014 with an excellent outcome. They have the expertise to take care of your needs. I traveled from St. Louis to Cleveland to have the surgery. Let me know if you have any questions about the process. They are very structured in the process. The only significant gap we experienced was getting the records/test results from one hospital to another in a readable format.

Kim Murray While I know he is a great surgeon, I really want you to meet with dr. Kapadia at Cleveland clinic If your aortic valve is stenosed he can open it up with the balloon. Please at least see if your a candidate , because I'm sitting here in Cincinnati now with no mechanical valves , when I was told I needed two. Please try for a least a consult.

No doubt I'll need that aortic valve fixed down the road though. That's really cool about the balloon procedure, but I heard that doesn't typically last very long? hope you are doing well!

I've seen people post about adult coloring books during recovery. I found this at Hobby Lobby, which I plan to bring with me to the hospital. I thought this would be more meaningful and encouraging than a regular coloring book so I wanted to share.

Kelly Weisgarber Welcome Ashley! Just read your story, can't imagine finding out you'll need surgery while you were pregnant. You have beautiful babies! My experience at the Cleveland clinic was great. My surgeon was Dr Svensson. He repaired my aortic valve and aortic aneurysm. I'm 4 months post surgery now and doing pretty well. Good luck to you. Elaine Cutri Welcome to the group. I had surgery at the Cleveland Clinic and felt that I received the best care possible. My surgeon was Eric Roselli, an expert in my condition, ascending aorta aneurysm. He also replaced my aortic valve with a newer, larger model and repaired my leaky tricuspid valve.

I'm reading Dr. Gillinov's book, Heart 411, during my cardio rehab sessions. It's been very informative. I would also recommend Adam Pick's book also. As Clare Auten, said, ask questions or voice your concerns. We're here for you.

Luckily, my aorta looks good (through the limited testing I've had, which I'm thankful for). I loved Adam's book and it was great! I didn't know Dr. Gillinov had one - I may just have to get my hands on that one too.

Ashley Molyneaux Emily, thank you! I did have my children before I found out about my heart condition. I found out when I was 28 weeks pregnant with my daughter. In a way, I'm thankful for that. I often wonder how my journey might have been different had I known before having kids. I'm grateful to have these beautiful souls by my side to give me strength that I never knew I had.
