Hi Karen,CC did a great recovery plan for me. Before discharge they showed me a list of numerous local agencies . I picked one, and they contacted the company. My cardiologist and primary were also eager to do the same for me. PT came from the same agency. Even though I’m in good shape, he’s given me great upper body exercises . I see the nurse and PT 2-3 times a week. I’ll start cardiac rehab in about 2 weeks which has already been ordered. I would definitely contact CC or your local Dr ! This should all be covered by health insurance.😊

Hi Karen , I was in good health going into my surgery, which helps with recovery. It’s amazing how your body changes after surgery. I’m walking at least 2000 steps a day. My PT has me doing 6 different exercises 2x a day. I was surprised at how sore my upper body muscles were when I started this very easy program! I’ll start rehab in 2-3 weeks😊

Karen, I too was diagnosed with a bicuspid valve and an ascending aortic aneurysm back in 2008.  Like you mine  was followed yearly with an echo and MRA.  The aneurysm and valve caused no physical issues however the aneurysm enlarged over time to 5.1cm and surgery was recommended.  I had both issues repaired in June 2023.  I was also weary/scared  of such a big procedure especially since I am in the medical/anesthesia field and knew exactly what was going to happen.  However, I came out of the surgery with flying colors despite what I  had convinced myself otherwise.  YOU HAVE CHOSEN A GREAT EXPERIENCED TEAM to get you through!  Trust in their expertise and you will do great.  I went to cardiac rehab afterwards even though I have worked out since my 20's and found it a safe and practical way to get back to my workout routine.   Your cardiac team will give you the resources to get back to enjoying your life.  Be a good patient and keep your peeps at the valve community updated.  Katherine Jensen... if you have any questions be sure to ask me!

Hi Karen, Im scheduled with Dr Gillinov at C.C. On April 10th. for Mitral Valve repair. My good friend had Dr. Roselli do her surgery last summer and he's great. Like you I'm pretty anxious about surgery and can't wait until it's over and I'm in recovery! Wishing you the best and sending positive thoughts😊
