Hi Jackie, I was scheduled for Mitral valve and Aortic valve replacement in March. Then Covid came along. By the time I had my surgery on June 22nd, I was losing energy and my valves were causing me to not feel great. It has only been 5 weeks and I feel better already. I was very scared at first about the sternum cut and the long surgery ( 7 hours ). It sounds like you just need to do it. I had to convince myself that also. God bless and good luck.

Marie Myers It is your choice and option to see another surgeon and get another opinion before your surgery. Many of these surgeries are truly elective, in that they can wait until you have received the opinions and consultations . I did not schedule my surgery until all tests were completed, and I had seen 2 different surgeons at 2 different hospitals. You get to decide, so get your tests done , get your second opinion, and then schedule your surgery. You must feel comfortable with your choices! Hang in there!
