Praying for you! Looking forward to your first posts, even though the process may seem long to you! 10 years ago after my mitral replacement valve, I had my husband write my updates after surgery! I wonder if I'll feel up to it after my transcatheter procedure?

Heidi! Here you are and you’re next! You’ve already been on my mind today, and I’ll continue to think of and pray for you throughout the day tomorrow. It’s kind of amazing how everyone is bustling around you getting you all prepped for surgery and the next thing you know, your eyes pop open and the surgery is over. Sending prayers that you have an easy and successful surgery. ~❤️

I was 52 when I chose the bovine valve.  It was the early stage of TAVR, and at that time was only done for patients who they didn't think would survive OHS.  But with what I learned from Adam Pick here I opted for tissue on the hope that should it need replacement TAVR would be an option.  Now that is becoming commonplace I am so glad I did.  Oh, BTW,  I'm 62 now and very active.

Good luck with your surgery! I have TAVR scheduled for March 9. I am having cold sensation a lot more this year too! Hope this surgery fixes that for us. Good Luck Bill

Hello there Heidi! Yep I am 52 and had AVR at age 51. We found that I was apparently born with it and never knew. After tireless research and discussions I opted for the bovine aortic valve. I have a suture-less one because I they can last 20 years and can have two TAVR inserts following without major surgery again. I follow all the data very closely amd with medical science what it is who know what we will have available to us in 10 years! It is amazing. I had the pre testing and the. went to surgeon. Be sure to ask all the questions and take your time. Wrote them down if it helps. I had worries and fears but decided I was goi g to be positive and think successfully no matter what. My surgery morning I was very calm and before I went back my family prayed with me. I don’t remember a thing until waking up and was in a private room very quickly. I stayed 4 days and discharged home. I was a little scared to go but it went completely fine. You will be short of breath but it will come back. Just take your short walks like they tell you and don’t overdo it. You want to make sure you have a recliner to sleep in some nights as it was difficult for me to get comfy some nights and I slept a lot especially naps in a recliner. Also get a shower chair and a hand held sprayer- it makes it sooooo much easier to manage your showers. I found this site to be a huge comfort and people rally around you in prayer and support. Heidi- I'm sorry you have to be here with us but wanted to say welcome....and to say though I cannot speak to aortic stenosis negatively impacting circulation, I  can only  share that my mitral valve insufficiency did cause me to have poor circulation...in fact, although I had surgery 8 years ago; I still deal with a little edema from time to time.  I'm not sure that helps you but....I felt I should speak with you.
