Hey Fred,
Your buddy from the UK here! Wow! I see you had quite some work done in there - top and tail aortic, plus the bit in the middle. My op is now fixed for the 19th of September, looks like its just the ascending aorta and valve - and Im going for the Inspiris also, so we have the same taste in designer heart accessories. I have had a bit of a journey myself, but nothing compared to you brother - this is one year you will never forget. If you want to email me directly, drop me a line on rob@miro-logistics.com, would be good to hear from you!

Fred,
I read your posts and I immediately felt the desire to respond. After all that you have been through in your health crisis and personal life I just want you to know that I greatly respect your strength and courage to push ahead and heal. I had my bicuspid aortic valve replaced in November of 2012 and I continue to do great with no restrictions to my active life. My surgeon (Eric Roselli at Cleveland Clinic) and I agreed that the Edwards tissue valve was the best choice and so far it is working beautifully. I hope trusted family members and friends are stepping up to help you as you heal. Get into a cardiac rehab program is at all possible and it will get you started on your path back to health and life. My very best to you and thanks for doing the tough and often thankless job of protecting the citizens. I can only imagine what it must be like for you. Stay strong!

Hi Fred. Just read your post so this is the 1st I’m learning of your surgery.
Hope all went well.
So sorry to hear about your absent, non-supportive wife. How horrible for you. She could be a supporter of BLM & still offer emotional, mental & physical support to her husband regardless of your statements about Trump!
I had mitral valve replacement two years ago, so I know how important support is in coping with the reality of major surgery. Personally, I made the decision to tell immediate family and a few close friends. As supportive as most of them were, they couldn’t really understand what I was going through. Nor could they offer any real advice. I found this Adam Pick site helpful for those things which they could not provide.
You are in my thoughts and prayers. Stay strong and stay safe.
Fred,
Hopefully you are recovering well as today is the day after your surgery.

Fred,
Hopefully you are recovering well as today is the day after your surgery.
I just recently read your story and must say my heart is broken for you (although it was supposedly repaired last October with my open heart mitral valve repair!)
To think that this event (Floyd) could destroy your relationship and family from the inside out is unreal.
As you are a police officer, I thank you. I back the blue and our President.
What has occurred in your marriage due to politics and current events is unfathomable.
Believe me when I say, we are in the worst spiritual warfare of our lifetimes.
I am praying for your recovery, for your marriage, for your wife to relinquish the hold the oppressor has over her and for your family.
Rest easy, pray and hand it over. You do not need to fight this one. God's got you.
Prayers for peace and recovery in ALL areas.

Fred, good luck today! I read your story a bit late in the game and thank Adam for the prod in his newsletter.
Step one: fix yourself mechanically. It is a check valve. Being bicuspid happens but fixes are available. You get one today!
Step two: recover. You can do it. You are not as alone as you may feel. Heart warriors are in ABUNDANCE. Walk, walk, walk. Then, wash, rinse, repeat. Walk the soles off of your shoes! It will give you plenty of time to handle.
Step three: Decide with your wife what your collective game plan should be. Fix the rest but you can only do so it after you take care of steps 1 & 2.
I only told a few people in my life about my surgery but did get TONS of support here. I did not acquaint my friends or family with this site, I let it be my refuge. No matter what you decide, work hard on getting that heart muscle healed!

Hi Fred ! :-) I read your story and am praying for you - You got this !!! Thank you for your hard work being a police officer during this time which is CRAZY! - My mom had surgery at Northwestern Winfield 2-14-20 her surgeon was Dr. Gang which I will be forever grateful for saving my moms life! He is an angel on earth and a miracle worker! Him and his team were so heartfelt and compassionate during that difficult and scarey time. She had open chest removal of TAVR aortic valve and replaced with new aortic valve also had a clip on the back of her heart 10 days later a pacemaker 83 years young. It has been a long recovery but she is doing well and such a determined strong woman a "rockstar" in my book! I share this so you know you are in good hands and will recover with flying colors god is watching over you. You have support on this "Community" and thankful you found this site and I am thankful also It helped me get thru things while my mom was going thru the entire process - I read the book and it helped me and am grateful for Adam Pick also for sharing and developing this site. I wishing you a speedy recovery and be patient with yourself and also be proud you have so many people in your corner and sending well wishes and prayers. God bless!

may God Bless you with a safe surgery, try to focus on pleasant things in life, sad news re your wife but maybe she is desperate with her leukemia, anyway your job is one of the most stressful and thank God for our BRAVE MEN IN BLUE, many of the protesters are not legitimate they are terrorists, looting, burning destroying businesses and family, especially the poor, killing also
I hope the President will send in the national guards, FBI, whatever to stop this madness, small wonder you are under heavy stress
please learn all you can about the surgery, especially after surgery, perhaps you can stay in a rehab facility, some hospitals have them along with the surgical hospital, I am a single widow and underwent
aortic valve replacement 6 years ago, had the tissue valve St.Jude type, all went splendidly; I attribute it mostly to a few friends, who are dedicated Catholics and their prayers, I'm sure the prayers or meditation, yoga was most helpful, I am normally a reclusive type but found the research and info on valve replacement so miraculous it opened up a new channel for the medical professionals, top notch from surgeon to nurses, aides, nutritionist, rehab, etc.
lock on to your loving family and think how wonderful you have them to surround you with love and good feelings, strike out the bad feelings or negative reaction of the unkind ones
if you have an iPod or iPad take it with you to the hospital stay
best wishes
Geri

Fred good luck today, happens that July 16 I turn 63 years old and I am five years post valve replacement. My surgeon and cardiologist tell me to act as if I never had a bad valve (except for antibiotics before teeth cleaning). You are young and I'm sure you will have a strong recovery and MAN you are going to feel so much better. An interesting question is how long after my surgery before I feel better than I felt before it? depends but after a week I and most have made a lot of recovery from the surgery itself. By one month you will feel MUCH better. Normal sleep pattern is often the last thing to return to normal so don't fret if you cannot sleep in the middle of the night. And thank you for your (policing) service. I am behind you all the way.

Fred Lopez Hey Stephanie I'm doing much better. I no longer feel vertigo and my right ear is doing much better. Yes, Thursday is the big day for me and so far its a go. I did my Covid19 test today and as long as that comes back negative, I have the green light. Looks like this is it, Can't wait for this surgery to be over so I can be relieved and post on here that I'm good and ready for the road to recovery. I have my family they are an amazing support. Yesterday was my nephews birthday, before departing, my entire family got in a circle, we held hands and every single person said a prayer, offered words of encouragement, my god I have never been so deeply moved. The overall theme was that I have made a difference in their lives, even to individuals I did not know, I have helped people and saved lives. Very moving. I was only able to say thank you, thank you for everything....could not say anything else as the emotions inside of me were preventing me from talking. To my wife, I forgive her, I forgive that she chose to love her politics over loving her husband. Narcissists like her are like the Chocolat Easter bunny we all have come to know, looks good on the outside and hollow on the inside. No fillings all hollow, just space. To forgive her is to not hold grudges and be free. When I wake up, I will wake up to a new beginning, an opportunity has been given to me...life. Does not get any better than that and I promise to god that I will live my life gratefully and comfort others who will be going through this process.

Hi Fred, I'm sorry you have to deal with this right now before your surgery. Its a very stressful time and your anxiety level is at its highest already. Take the time to breathe and go to your family that loves and have faith that all will be well. I look at it as if something was going to happen, I wouldn't have gotten the sign so that I could fix it. You have a very stressful job ( I know I have 4 officers in my family) and its a bad time right now for police. Thank you for your service and commitment you have given.
I wish you the best of luck with your surgery, I will keep you in my prayers. You have friends here as we all know what you are feeling and know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Fred--
It literally breaks my heart to read your journey, but i am glad that you found this blog as a place to share. I wish for you these things as you move forward one step at a time:
Inner peace in your decisions, as that will be your compass
Strength to find each step moving forward
Support from family and friends who care--share your story, your concerns-others are a foundation
Wellness, as you regain good health
Virtual hand holding and hugs from people you do know and those you have never met
A love for yourself--you are unique, you are special, and you are a gift in life--honor that
Best of luck to you on Friday, Fred. Be strong. Oh yeah, we are all journeying through this during a massive pandemic too. The waters are rough and difficult to navigate through, but we really need each other to find the path along the way. I am glad that you shared.
Be well in the journey.
