You commented on my journal entry where I said, "it's not as bad as you might think". Glad to see you're in cardiac rehab. Looks like you started just when I "graduated". I hope all is well with you. It's an experience only us that have gone through it can appreciate. My best wishes for you for a healthy rest of your life.

All the best for your upcoming surgery Don. Like yourself I had a mitral repair just over 2 weeks ago due to regurgitation. After the first few days the worst is behind you and you will feel so relieved to have it over and done with. Thinking of you and look forward to your updates, Louise

Hello Don- You are scheduled for your surgery on my husbands 65th. Birthday. The love of my life for these past 38 yrs. in May and I mention this as he was the greatest gift of a caregiver throughout the process of my surgery and at home for recovery time and you are blessed with "Bonnie and your sons" for a Team of people who will be there for you and it will give you a source of energy and strength as well as Peace entering into surgery. This Love you have surrounding you is one of your greatest assets as well as the Faith you seemingly carry with you as well. This surgery will surprise you from the way your team of specialists treats you going in, during their caring time spent keeping you comfortable and your family updated with your progress and on your way towards your healing time will all seem like it went so fast and was not as bad as your imagination might have led you to believe it might while waiting.....You and your Family have many people pulling for you, many prayers that all will be well. Your Heart community will also have "your heart" and many prayers surrounding you on your special day. Tell your Bonnie to be strong and remember the love and Faith you share will carry you through this experience as another important Journey for the two of you and your children. Take care now!

Hello Don. Don't rule out the caroling yet! With the great attitude you have going for you, you are already headed in the right direction. The fact your tests have come up with no blockages is really good news. Hope everything falls into place for you smoothly and you are in a good place by the Holidays and humming the Holiday Classics as you move forward! Take care and keep up the high spirits. (I'm with Eleanor on your recent photos as you look like you are in your "Happy Place".
Thanks for sharing them!

welcome to the site! Adam has a wealth of information here, and the rest of us can chime in with our opinions too! I knew I had a mitral valve murmur and prolapse about age 13. Was always told I would never have to worry about it except to take antibiotics prior to dental work. A few years ago they changed that and no longer prescribe it for mild prolapse. Eight years ago I had an Echo and was told mild prolapse with mild regurgitation. Then the 1st of June this year I had an episode that found me in the doctors office two days later. Long story short, the valve was now severe prolapse and regurgitation and I needed to think surgery sooner rather than later. Aug 20th I had a minimally invasive procedure that discovered the valve was beyond repair and needed a replacement. I am recovering nicely, active around the house and doing cardiac rehab. You too will sail through this, once you have your questions answered, your doctor and hospital selected and your date set. Take good care and don't hesitate to ask questions.......
