Hello all, this is Chris' fiancé Greta, let me start by saying "wow", what an out pouring of love, prayers and support. The surgery went well, he had a full chest crack to replace his aortic valve and root. When the surgeon came out he stated that valve "won the worst valve of the year award". It was a size of a dime, no flaps moving at all and hard as rock. His valve is now a little bigger then a quarter, he chose to have the cow valve. The surgeon can not believe he just completed his first triathlon this summer and did a warrior dash 2 weeks ago. There was a slight complication that his left lung started to collapse, they have that corrected. I left him tonight very very warm and agiatated, but he was breathing on his own and wanting his ice chips :). As a caregiver that is the worst feeling in the world to see someone that you love more then your own life, lay their helpless. Tomorrow I will return back to the hospital and he will be moved up to the cardio floor where I will be able to stay with him 24/7.
