About Me (In My Own Words)
Diagnosed when I was 5. When I was young it made me different, unique. I got to run the stop watch as the others had to run around the track in gym class...I was so lucky! As I got older all my childhood friends went on to play sports in high school. I begged and pleaded, but my doctor would not allow it. As a result, I was bitter and "gave up",and went down some wrong avenues. For years I stopped going to my cardio appointments until about four years ago. As an adult I just did the things I wanted to, like mountain biking, cross country skiing, running, whatever. As a result, I am in great shape. About three years ago, my doctor told me I was 1-3 years out from surgery. I thought to myself, "yeah right, I've heard this my whole life!" Well, three years later, I am having surgery on Monday, October 13th. I'm ready to get it done and do a marathon next year!
