Richard Munson Good luck tomorrow. If you waited one more day till the 29th, you could wait another 4 years for the surgery. My mother in law ( god rest her soul) was born on leap year and i used to tell her she was only 16. Our personal joke. Wonderful woman.

Hi Allison, wishing you well with your upcoming surgery! I had mitral and tricuspid repairs and a Maze procedure (full sternotomy) at the Cleveland Clinic with Dr. Gillinov a year ago. I can't say enough about the excellent care I received. I live in Texas and flying home a week after surgery was no problem. I was 73 at the time of surgery (from your beautiful photo, you're much younger), my recovery was smooth, and I feel better than ever. Everything about the surgery experience was much easier than I had imagined beforehand. You've chosen an excellent surgeon and hospital and will sail through this! I wrote a detailed chronicle of my whole experience and would be happy to share it by email, if helpful (ginnyturner@hotmail.com). Cheering for you and saying a prayer!

Hi Allison, I just read your story and I want to wish you the best of luck (and skill) with your up coming surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. Although none of us want to endure this process, I think you will do great. They will take excellent care of you. I had my AVR and root replacement at CC 4 months ago. It was my first surgery (except tonsils out) and they are definitely really good at what they do. I will be praying for you to have a successful surgery and smooth recovery

Hi Allison and welcome to the group! I'm also a Cleveland Clinic valve patient - I had mitral and tricuspid repairs at the end of January 2022, traveling from Texas for surgery. My care there was excellent, and everyone I came into contact with was knowledgeable, professional and kind. I've had a smooth recovery and life is back to normal. Your 2016 procedure may have also been done at CC, but if the hospital is new to you, I'd be happy to answer any questions. Wishing you well!
