In Florida, Heart Valve Surgery Buddies Gather To Celebrate Life

By Adam Pick on March 21, 2012

The stories coming out of Heart Valve Journals have touched, moved and inspired me.

Last week, it was Jeff and Jim at Mount Sinai in New York. Today, its Cheryl, Peter, Duane, Peggy, Fran, Peter, Richard and Susan who recently connected in Florida.

Here’s the report from Cheryl Irvine who was at this special gathering of Heart Valve Journalists in the Sunshine State. In her note, Cheryl wrote to me:

Hi Adam,

Cheers from Whitby, Ontario to you and your family.  Peter and I just got back from a trip to Florida where we had a weekend visit with Duane and Peggy Hunt (Winter Haven, Florida), Fran and Peter Zilko (Bonita Springs, Florida) and Richard and Susan Ingham (Berwick, Maine).  We had ourselves a small Heart Valve Journals’ reunion starting Friday evening and even attended Duane’s church Sunday morning.

Your ears had to be burning — but in a good way — because you were certainly in our conversations. The continued improvements and innovations to the website never cease to amaze me.

Continued success.  I just love reading your updated blogs.

Best regards,

What a beautiful gathering of inspiring souls! Each person in that picture helped me through my surgery and recovery. They did this through their support, encouragement, and personal journeys. It brings a smile to my face to see them gathered here, enjoying each other. Without the creation of this site by Adam, all these lives would not be connected, and stories would not be shared.. It is said what you give out, comes back to you in enormous ways. How great that Adam can see that in these pictures and stories! We are all forever grateful!

I had a valve replacement as well as aneurysms repaired on my aortic arch and on the aortic roots(a genetic defect) 4 1/2 weeks ago on 3/29/12. it was an 11 1/2 hour surgery. Everything seems to be going well except I have neuoperathy in my right shoulder and arm. It is very painful and I have no strength in myvrightvhand. The doctors are telling me it will go away on its own in 6 to 12 weeks. Anybody have any experience with this?
