I know the feeling. I had no idea I had any sort of problem whatsoever, and then in May, my cardiologist told me I had a bad valve and needed to have open heart surgery to fix it before summer was over. I was shocked to say the least. But in a way, I'm kind of glad everything happened so quickly. Otherwise, I just would have had more time to fret and worry about it. I had my OHS on July 22nd this year, and all went well. Everyone told me that the waiting before surgery was more stressful than the surgery itself and the recovery, and in my case, they were right. Recovery hasn't been what I'd call fun, but I'm so glad to have the surgery behind me.

Oh Vince, I can sympathize with you as my surgery has also come as a big shock. I am at this time in the waiting period but at least I have the 26 of November as the day Dr. Starnes will do my surgery and can't wait to be on the recovery side. Will pray for you to get serenity and acceptance and you can move on to your surgery and recovery. Keep us posted. God bless you

Yes, same with me. One said 1-3 years and my 2nd opinion said 2-3 months! You just blank out when this happens! I had Dr. Starnes, same as the founder of this site! He said, I'm young, healthy, and the recovery will be loads better and easier! You got this Vince!
