aortic valve replacement surgery was the last week of Oct. Everything seems to be healing up pretty nicely. Had my post op with the surgeon yesterday and all xrays came back looking good and they are very happy with the results. Surprisingly I had very little symptoms when it was decided that now is the time to have the valve replaced, but after it was all over, the surgeon said given the looks of the valve, he estimated I may have been showing symptoms the last 2-3yrs minimum but just did not know it. He was actually pretty shocked given the stenosis of it, that I seemingly had no real issues with it. So it sounds like it was a good thing to have done rather than continue to wait on it. I do notice a very strong heart beat at times now as well as little things now I would have thought of to be the symptoms I never had prior. But all post tests have been good and doctors say it all is testing fine, so most of it is just being chalked up to the recovery process. So i'll just keep an eye on it. They expect things like this to continue to fade away as it all continues to heal. I'm still getting used to the ticking sound though.. ;)
