Update at 48 hours in recovery mode. Out of ICU and all tubes out. BP stabilized without meds around 3:00 am this morning. Potassium still a slight challenge but she has suffered that for decades. Getting up and down without assistance and PT starts in earnest today. Hoping for a... Read more.

Day 0 in the books and my rockstar wife was amazing. She was out of surgery in three hours with a new aortic valve and a decalcified left ventricle. She is in ICU now with no breathing tube. Her BP is fluctuating pretty good but told to expect that for... Read more.

Great news. My suggestion is to Not to rush your recovery, walk as much as she can and follow the directions of your heart team

Absolutely. MedStar has a guide for her to follow the next couple of days and she will follow it religiously.

Great news! I second the encouragement to sit up, stand-up, and walk as able. I was most comfortable when walking in the hospital even though you can feel a little unstable and tired. While the bed seems safe, it adds to the fatigue and muscle soreness.
