Marie Myers It was easy and painless. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight.i came into the outpatient area, and got an IV started. I got propofol for sedation, and slept through the test. Went home in about an hour..I think the whole test was only 15-20 minutes. Not worth all the worrying I did!

Louanna Miller I agree with Marie Myers. The TEE is not bad. You will be sedated and not remember anything at all. Not painful or difficult. You might have dry throat but it subsides quickly. Don’t loose sleep or energy on this one.

Civita Fahey absolutely! I think I was in denial for months.. I kept saying my shortness of breath wasn't that bad so it must be because I need to lose some weight. I feel fine.. so, yes, is totally normal, but the sooner we come to terms with what we need done the better is for us. All will be well in the end and its normal to be scared to death. this is the best place to be for comfort and understanding. We have all been there. Best of luck.

Adam Pick Survey says..... YES!!!! Peter, this is very, very, very common. All types of anxiety are common before heart surgery. As many patients in our community may share with you, the anxiety leading up to the procedure may be the toughest part of the entire experience. Stay calm. You are going to do fine. Take this step-by-step and heart surgery will ultimately be another "chapter" in your "book of life". My thoughts are with you!
