Hi there: May God bless you all!
This is my 4th week after 3 surgeries on my heart ( 4 arteries blockage, 3 by passed, 4th was not as important, bicuspid aortic valve replacement, aortic artery aneurysm). First week was very critical, I had A-Fib, shortness of breath, no strength, could not walk for even 10 steps till the 3rd day in hospital. Then I pushed myself, and complete 40 steps of my block, then 50, then 90. Now I can walk 30 minutes one time and 30 minutes 2nd time without taking a break. I am going to start cardiac rehab from 23rd of August and feel that by that time I will be able to drive. The only problem I am facing is the shortness of breath when I try to go upstairs. Also my blood pressure in the morning after sleep is very low, but after a while it reaches to normalization. I am looking forward to attain the full recovery with in 3 months.
My heart surgery is due on July 05/2018. I have a faulty aortic valve, aneurysm of 4.9 cm, and 4 arteries blocked 95%, 90%, 70%, And 40%, hence 4 bypasses. Dr. Allen Speir Of INOVA in Fairfax Hospital will perform the surgery. I have problem in sleeping on my back, I always sleep on side. Any suggestion to cope? Will they give some sleeping medicines?
I am scheduled for an open heart surgery on 5th of July/2018, which includes aorta valve replacement, fixing aneurysm, and 4 artery blockage bypass. Dr Speir is my Cardiac Surgeon who has 43 years of experience under his belt. He was one of team member who performed heart transplant on Dick Cheny. I am quite confident that I will overcome the ordeal and will be there to share my experience with you guys. One thing I am very concerned though, I have bad constipation. How will they take care of that? Any idea.
