My experience Day 2 of 3 (7/30) Pre-Op testing at the Cleveland Clinic Mitral Valve Repair surgery. Received a call in the evening the night before to inform me of the time, location and instructions. I had to fast the night before nothing past 12am. My appointment was early in the morning about 6am. Doctors who were on the team to perform the cardiac cath. Came and introduced themselves; they also went over what the procedure would be like and what to expect. This is my first time having a wrist cardiac cath. The previous one I had was in the groin. During the procedure they asked me to take some deep breaths and after that it was all over. The whole procedure took about a bit under hour. I was placed in a recovery room for about 3-4 hours to ensure no bleeding. I was able to walk and get around pretty easily after I was discharged. My hand was swollen up until about late evening.

Robert Miller I didn't know they can do this through the hand. Is there an advantage doing it this way rather than through the groin? Your right arm/hand sure looks swollen but I suspect it will return to normal within a few days. For my first surgery, they put some "pipe" into my groin and there was a fairly large area that was all black and blue (maybe 10cm x 6cm). It looked ugly but completely painless. It took weeks for it to go away but now you couldn't tell.

Marvin Campos Hey Robert in my experience I think I prefer having it through the wrist. My hand was swollen only for a couple hours. When I had it through my groin I felt I was limited more with walking and driving as I was also pretty sore for the next couple days/weeks.

My experience Day 1 of 3 (7/29) Pre-Op testing at the Cleveland Clinic Mitral Valve Repair surgery. First impression this hospital is HUGE!!! I was in the hospital all day from 10a-4p with blood work, X-Rays, Cat Scan etc…I honestly don’t know how they keep everything so well organized with appointments & walk-in’s but they do. Everything flowed pretty smoothly. I was a bit exhausted after everything today. And Cleveland is definitely not a city I would visit; besides Cleveland Clinic the surrounding area is very poor and good luck trying to find parking there is none except for parking garages or valet.

Robert Miller I am glad to hear the valve could be repaired. I would like to hear more about your recovery. I thought recovery from minimal invasive surgery, which I assume you had, is relatively easy. From what I hear, it's mostly the healing from cutting the sternum (open heart surgery) that is hard. And for women who had minimal invasive surgery, the tissue might hurt because they have to insert the robotic instruments through parts of the breast.
Ana Brusso Welcome to recovery and continued good health 🙏❤️
Rose Madura Great news. Glad you are in the recovery stage.
