Is it normal that 9 months after my OHS I still feel tired especially in the evening?
My last cardiologist check was in January and doctor said that everything is fine and that I just worry too much.
I am 41 and I walk a lot, but skipped cardiac rehab, because of the corona situation. Before problems with my valve I played twice per week basketball (until December 2019), but now I can not imagine to do any sports...

Marie Myers Could it be that you are still a little de-conditioned since your surgery? That might account for your tiredness in the evening. You could try slowly increasing your activity, and see if that improves your overall energy.

( I can understand why you did not go with covid, but if things are better in terms of covid mgt now in Belguim, then I would reconsider)

Rita Savelis I was tired for over a year after OHS. I couldn't start dance class again till 15 months after OHS. If you are on betablockers (such as metrapolol) they could also be making you tired. It can take a long time to have the energy you had before OHS. And especially if you were athletic before, it can be frustrating. I hear you. It's hard. But what you are experiencing is normal after what you've been through.

Marko Petrovic I was on a betablockers also for a year before surgery without feeling tired. Besides tiredness I have strange feelings in legs like poor circulation, but without edema. Vascular doppler is fine, so it is not problem with peripheral circulation.
I did extensive blood work and I have little bit more red blood cells and haemoglobin. But I was checked on polycythemia (JAK2) and it is negative...
Perhaps skipping cardiac rehab was wrong decision.

Rita Savelis Cardiac rehab doesn't necessarily get you back in shape. It helps you feel more comfortable about working out and can be psychologically helpful because you encounter others in the same situation as you. Keep up your routine. Don't push yourself too hard. Every body is different - every recovery is different. You just might need more time.

Thomas Brusstar I agree that cardiac rehab just gives you confidence about how hard you can exercise. For me it showed my heart was fine, I could push harder. Otherwise I would have worried about straining my heart. And for me amiodarone for like 60 days after surgery made me tired. I was glad to discontinue that.
