Had a new echo for post op baseline. Heart efficiency rating is lower now. Anyone have this happen. Maybe it will improve in time. Oh well at least I'm alive. I was pretty bad before surgery.

I had a post-op echo as a baseline a week ago (had new aortic valve installed on Aug 10). The ejection fraction (one measure of efficiency) was calculated the same as before--perhaps a bit lower. The doc said it takes time to improve. Makes sense. My heart had remodeled itself... Read more.

I have returned to choir and a couple of dance classes. Do all my own housework and cooking. Sometimes I have too much energy. Often I get fatigued and dizzy. Breathing is not totally improved but I need a surgery on my nose eventually. Will have three month check up... Read more.

Actually looked healthier a few days after surgery than I did after going home. Not eating and struggling to get strong made me look awful. People would tell me I looked good. Then I'd look in the mirror and think they lied to me.

I hear you Linda. It's hard to get an appetite back and recovery is not easy. You do look lovely in this photo, but photos can hide the reality of what we are going through. Congrats on getting to 3 months post-op and I wish you all the best.

It took almost 8 weeks for my appetite to return. I think the loss of appetite was one of my worst problems. Unfortunately, it came back with a vengeance and now I have gained back a few pounds which I don't need to do.
