I thought I was going home tomorrow.. found fluid around my heart and in left lung. Draining my lung tomorrow, not sure what we're doing about fluid around left side of heart. Kinda bummed but I'm glad we caught this now

Greg Lewis Hey Jessica! I saw your post here, and would like to add.When I was in the hospital, I couldn't wait to leave. Every day the nurses would ask me, " how are you today Mr. Lewis?" And every day I said the same thing.." great, going home today!" And they would say. Not today. I would get bummed for a bit, and then hope that maybe tomorrow.
Finally, one day, I got to go home.
I had a difficult surgery, with a lot of problems. At home too.
Once I got home, I wished I was back there! Yep, you read correctly! Lol. It was safe there!!

Susan Eckermann Hi Jessica. I’m sorry to hear your discharge was delayed. This is a bump in the road, but you are strong and will be through it. Better to be in one or more days and take advantage of the care services, than go home and have to return right away for some complication. I hope tomorrow goes smoothly and you’ll soon be home on the road to recovery. You got this!

Patsy Stewart I’ll be thinking about you tomorrow. I hope your procedure goes well. As for the fluid around your heart, they usually give you lasix and it will help your body get rid of the excess fluid/water build up. I know you’ve had quite the hospital stay, but you’ll be out of there before you know it.~❤️

Rita Savelis Pleural effusions are common. Glad they were caught while you're still in hospital. Let the doctors take care of you, as they know how. Pericarditis is a bit more complicated, but again, allow them to take care of you. Your body needs rest and as soon as you get home all the things you should be doing catch up with you. I spent 3 weeks in hospital after heart surgery. Take care.
