Hi, my dad is 51M recently diagnosed with BAV severe stenosis. He is at USC right now and is deciding between SAVR, MIVAR, TAVR, and ROSS. We will talk to the surgeons in a while, but I wanted to know what some important questions I should ask today are or... Read more.

Jailyn, There is no short answer. I am not a doctor so these are just thoughts. He will not be eligible (nor should be) for a TVAR. SAVR/MIVAR are a function of what needs to be done when they get in there. I had a MIVAR but it worked for... Read more.
I second Dan, in that generally speaking a TAVR would not be performed with this diagnosis. At least that is what I was told 2 1/2 years ago. Approaches may vary. You can ask if he would be a candidate for a Ross procedure and if yes, get a full... Read more.

I never had a lot of pain. I was uncomfortable a lot. Heat packs on my back while in the hospital and using a heating pad at home. the diuretics made me grumpy. I was weak and mostly just trying to get from one day to the next.
A recliner at home. Many sleep in them for weeks more comfortably than the bed.
