Well, it's finally happening. After three years I will finally be getting a fix for my leaky tricuspid valve. On May 6 doctors at the University of Virginia Advanced Valve Center will use a catheter approach to insert the Tric Bicaval Valve system as part of a medical trial to evaluate its efficacy. I will be the first at UVA to receive this new device. Previously I was found ineligible for the Triluminate , Lux Plus and Evoque tricuspid valve repairs due to the fact that I have two ICD leads that run through my tricuspid. The procedure should take 2 to 4 hours and with any luck I'll get to go home the next day! Onward and upward with science!

Just checking in. My journey toward getting a tricuspid valve repair/replacement continues. While I have severe TVR it’s complicated by the presence of 2 CRT-D leads that pass through the valve. One went bad several years ago and was “abandoned “ when the new one was installed. I have been turned down for both the Abbott TRILUMINATE trial and the Edwards Scientific Evoque trial because of the issue with the leads. In December the FDA and University of Virginia IRB approved me for compassionate care to receive a Jenscare Lux Plus valve which supposedly will accommodate the leads and I was scheduled for the procedure at the end of January. Suddenly everything was cancelled because the Lux Plus manufacturer submitted a request to begin a U.S. trial which stopped all compassionate use approvals. So, I may or may not get an update In July. Ah, the joys of modern medicine are without number….
Henry, I only found this from last June. Do you know if they are enrolling yet? Your cardiac specialist should be able to tell you. It does look promising though and hope and pray you are a candidate and can get in. It looks to be minimaly invasive also, which would be nice! I too have Tricuspid, but as of a few weeks ago it is staying moderate to severe and has not changed since last year. I am hopeful that the Heart Valve Specialists will get more on board with finding more options for those of us with Tricuspid problems. Many blessings and good wishes to you!

I Just learned that I haven't been accepted for the Triluminate tricuspid valve repair trial due to the placement of one of my ICD leads. Major Bummer! Unclear what the next steps, if any, will be. Probably a consult with my regular cardiologist to see if there are any additional options.

Timothy Andre Stay positive Henry. Your answers will come. What seems like a bummer now could be a blessing later. For example, My insurance turned me down for surgery after approving all my pre-op procedures. It was a major let down, but it directed me to another hospital with the surgeon I wanted all along. A blessing in disguise. Trust the process

I am being considered as a possible candidate to participate in the Abbott Labs Triluminate Pivotal trial and would like to hear from any others who have been through the process. A quick history...in 1998 I was diagnosed with severe cardiomyopathy. Thanks to good drugs, four life-saving CRT-Ds and a couple of ablations am still around. Last November an echo showed severe tricuspid valve disease. I was referred to the interventional cardiology team at INOVA Heart and Vascular. I have now had a heart cath, a transesophageal echo and just last week a two hour regular echo. My next appointment is with the team's thoracic surgeon. I will probably know in May if my case will be submitted to Abbott for consideration. Never a dull moment in cardio-land.

Kimberly Eisenhut Hello Henry, You've been through a lot, and I am sure you will get through this as well! I am 56 years old and have known about my moderate to severe tricuspid regurgitation since 2016. I am still in wait mode, and am hopeful my cardiac cpecialist, Dr. Rigolin (Northwestern Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute in Chicago) will refer me at the best time for surgery. I went to see if I was eligible for the "Triclip" in 2017, but was not a candidate then. I hope to here more from you when you find out what your Dr, reccomends for you. I have not been able to meet many people with tricuspid regurgitation, so am very interested in any info or help on this topic. Blessings to you and you are in my prayers! Kim

Miriam St.Clair Hi Kim! I have severe tricuspid regurgitation and moderately severe aortic and mitral regurgitation. All of this was caused by radiation therapy for Hodgkin Lymphoma 37 years ago. I'm in the process of being evaluated by the team at INOVA Heart and Vascular and am not as far along as Henry in my tests. I will keep you posted!

Miriam St.Clair Hi Henry, My case is not as far along as yours is in the evaluation process but I'm right behind you. I'm a very poor candidate for OHS so I would like to hear your thoughts on INOVA. I thought the interventional cardiologist was great. You've really been through a lot so good thoughts are going your way.

Kimberly Eisenhut Miriam, thank you for your response. I hope to stay in touch and please let me know how you are doing. I have an appointment next month for a heart monitor to be worn for a week, then an Echo stress test, then an apt with my cardiac specialist May 24th. My 16 year old worries about me, which makes me sad sometimes, but I just reassure him and tell him all the great things about all the people on this site and how these things are fixable :) Being a single mom at my age can be difficult, but I try to stay positive. Maybe someday my prince charming will come along. I still have hope! Blessings, Kim
