Brand new to this group but very excited to have become a member to give and receive support as I have congenital heart disease status post open heart surgery 10 years ago with my tissue valve now showing signs of deterioration. Looking forward to meeting new people that can relate to the physical and emotional struggles that come with living with these issues :)

Laura Jacobs Welcome Heather! So sorry that you are facing surgery again. I guess all of us are facing a "redo" but I am hoping that it will be a very long time before that day comes. I wish you all the best, and hope that your second surgery goes super well, and you recovery is quick.

Lilly Black Heather, welcome! I had my aortic valve replaced in dec 2014. I was told in 18 years when my bovine valve no longer functions, I will be a candidate for TAVR. Could this be an option for you? Surgery is less invasive. I wish you the best. Keep us posted!

Gerald Poulton Hi Heather and welcome, that is one oroblem with a tissue valve when you are younger, may I ask your age and the type of tissue valve you have ? 9 weeks post op for me with a bovine valve. They do last longer now then 10 years ago 👍
