Pamela Gregory Wishing you the very best luck Ethan! I didn't have the Ross, I had Aortic Valve Replacement and Aortic Root Replacement with a mini-sternotomy but I would say to stay ahead of the pain with meds and don't overdue. You will feel extreme fatigue but will see a natural progression daily at first, then more weekly. Best Advice I have received from Dr.s, Nurses, and Patients is to listen to your body. Everyone is different. Will send out some prayers for you too
Andrew Dial Take it day by day Ethan! Be patient. Recovery is slow but keep focused on the goal.
Angela Meletiadis Best wishes for all to go as planned, Ethan! My recovery advice, "Be patient with yourself!!"

Robert Miller I wish all the best for your procedure tomorrow. Recovery is a bit of a pain especially with all the tubes and wires still attached. It seems standard procedure that you don't get pain medicine unless you ask for it. So if you feel pain then ask for it. Don't try to be a hero and suffer as you have enough other things to deal with. Do those breathing exercises (forget about the coughing exercises. They can be painful and don't do much good. Even the nurses said so). When you get home don't overdo it. Follow what the doctor told you even if you get bored out of your mind. It's just 4 weeks out of your life. Sleeping on your back is a bit a pain (literarily as your neck and back might stiffen up). There are those 'wedge' pillows. I used one. I am not a big fan of it (and many others don't like them either) but it's better than lying flat (which also makes it harder to get out of bed without putting pressure on your chest). I kind of switched between the wedge pillow and then after a few hours move to our reclining couch.

Patsy Stewart Offering prayers for you, Ethan, that your surgery will be a success. The fatigue can be overwhelming. Make sure you follow every thing that your surgeon tells you to do. Once they have you sitting up in a chair and walking the halls, you will begin to feel better. I'll be thinking of and praying for you tomorrow. You can do this! ~❤️
