4 weeks post-op. Incision is a bit bigger than the last aortic valve replacement done a few years back.

Recovery is a little slower than the last time. Grateful to the scientific and medical community for the advances in valve replacement surgery.

Two surgeons I consulted said that second surgical aortic valve replacements, performed by expert surgeons at hospitals that do a high volume of SAVRs, are nearly as safe as first-time surgeries and that the survival rates are excellent. Gratefully, these procedures... Read more.
Thanks, I hope to be as fortunate as I was the first time. I still have time before I go in again, but I am already looking at other options rather than going through traditional open heart surgery.
Been there...and just had TAVR for my 4th replacement.
To answer your question, mortality rates don't really go up from first to second procedure.
