About Me

I am 61 years old, female. I was born with a qudricuspid aortic valve. It is considered a rare valve condition, or a "very interesting valve" as I have heard some doctors say. The moderate to severe regurgitation was discovered around February of 2024, I had lived my entire life up to that point without knowing I even had this uncommon valve, or that I had this regurgitation issue. While my type of valve is rare, my condition is not, which is regurgitation. the regurgitation has been categorized to severe now to where I am getting a valve replacement surgery. I have no symptoms, and am very healthy and active in all other ways. I love life and my life evolves around my husband (my partner in life) and my very close family. I love going to musical events/concerts, dancing, traveling, working out, paddle boarding, cooking, and walking my dogs among the many, many things I enjoy in life. I am very curious if I will notice how even better I will feel after I get my new valve. In some strange way, I am sad to say good bye to my strange but faithful vale that has served me so well. But it's time to say good bye now and start a new chapter in my life. The hardest decision I am facing right now is if I get a mechanical valve or a tissue valve. My cardiologist recommends a mechanical one based on my age and good health.
