Just scheduled my 4th Open Heart Surgery and am feeling quite overwhelmed. This will be my 4th MVR with a TV repair. Due to prosthetic dysfunction, frozen leaflets of my mechanical mitral valve Henry Ford will be extracting my mechanical and replacing it with a bio prosthetic valve. I’m 49 yo and have congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, restrictive lung disease, ehlers Danlos syndrome, Chiari Malformation, multiple valve disease and cardiomyopathy. I’m quite concerned given this is my 4th OHS and given my heart and lung failure and EDS. Anyone out there that has had three or four OHS with other complications? Thank you. Dee

One week until my 3rd Open Heart Surgery on the 28th. Replacing /redo mitral valve, aortic valve and repairing tricuspid. I am an example that tricuspid regurgitation and pulmonary hypertension doesn’t always go away after mitral valve repair. Now I’m in severe right heart failure at 48. My first surgeon, Dr. Bolling, U of M, said he did a perfect repair but I ended up severely stenotic a year later needing a replacement. Now I need another replacement, aortic replacement and tricuspid repair to due severe aortic regurgitation and pulmonary hypertension.

I was hoping once would’ve been enough, for her sake, but here we go again at age 17 for her. I can handle anything as long as she’s spared but I know she really hasn’t been. 😢💔

I’m 10 year post MVR for both severe MVR & MVS. Just went into complete heart & lung failure & hospitalized for two weeks & transferred to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI for my 4th OHS. I had a massive clot on my prosthetic MV & the one leaflet is stuck in place causing severe MS & MR & my Tricuspid Valve is also severely leaking & needs repair. This will be a high risk surgery. I’m now 48, 3 OHS in, severe restrictive lung disease & EDS. Anyone out there who’s had a 3rd or 4th OHS. What should I expect? Thank you. Dee
