I need mitral valve repair and have been talking to 2 different surgions, on ei robotic Dr. Guy and one is open heart, Dr. Girardi. Both are at Weill Cornell and I am looking at the pros and cons of each and trying to decide what to do. Any feedback... Read more.

Dr. Girardi repaired my mitral valve last year. Sternectomy at age 54 as I wanted short pump time and proven outcome. It took about 7 weeks to recover and restart exercise. The team at NYP was great.

I have decided to do OH with Dr. Girardi My surgery is scheduled for Feb 14. I am very nervous about this but hoping to put this behind me and feel better and travel.
